NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers got a doubles win from
Fleur Sprengers and
Danique Vermue but could not overcome the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks in a 7-0 loss on Sunday at Schlief Tennis Complex.
Sprengers and Vermue notched a 7-5 win over Avery Kinsey and Ana Paula Chavez but Stephen F. Austin already had the first point decided by that point with wins at flight one (6-3) and flight three (6-2).
In singles, the Lady Jacks did not drop a set on the day while moving to 3-6 overall on the season.
Ksenia Momontova was the first off court for SFA at flight three with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Chavez followed by winning her match at flight five by a score line of 6-4, 6-2. The match was clinched through Sonja Rooth at flight one with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Kinsey was next off court with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at flight six. Antonella Taco secured a late break in the second set to win her match 6-2, 7-5. Felicia Back completed the sweep by conceding only five games in a 6-2, 6-3 win.
This marks the second consecutive season Stephen F. Austin won in a sweep over the Privateers.
