Lauri Mondschein was named Director of Student Athlete Support Services for the University of New Orleans athletic department in March 2008.

In her new role in the UNO athletic department, Mondschein will oversee the development and enhancement of student-athlete skills necessary for academic, athletic and personal growth. Mondschein will also assist with compliance.

“This is a very important hire for us,” said Miller. “This shows a great commitment by our university that we are serious about our student-athletes getting a quality education. Lauri is a former athlete, and she understands what our athletes go through on a daily basis. She will be a tremendous asset.”

Mondschein comes to the Lakefront from Louisiana-Monroe, where she served for just over two years as Assistant Athletic Director for Academics and Compliance in addition to being the Senior Woman Administrator.

During her time in Monroe, Mondschein oversaw all operations for the office of academics and compliance for the athletic department. She also assisted in event management responsibilities for all home events in addition to representing the athletic department on various athletic and university committees.

Prior to ULM, Mondschein served as the Associate Athletic Director and SWA at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. In this role, she managed the day-to-day operations of the athletic department, supervised event management for all home competitions and arranged departmental travel amongst a variety of tasks. For two months of her tenure at Kutztown, Mondschein served as acting Director of Athletics.

Mondschein is an accomplished athlete, having won the 1985 NCAA Division I Heptathlon while attending ULM and being named an All-American on four occasions. In 1986, she was named Louisiana Amateur Athlete of the Year and in 1991, was named to the ULM Hall of Fame.

The 1985 graduate of ULM with a Bachelors degree in Radio/TV/Film Management received a Master of Science in Electronic Media from Kutztown in 2002.
