Brooks DuBose

Brooks DuBose was announced as the latest hiring to the New Orleans Privateers baseball coaching staff on Monday. DuBose will assume duties as the volunteer assistant, starting in the 2023 season.

Working with the infielders in '23, DuBose was a big part of a sound defense. The Privateers had a fielding percentage of .981. Not only was that in the top ten nationally, but it was also the best single season team fielding percentage on record in program history.

In 2024, DuBose worked with an infield that had a .971 fielding percentage, fourth best in program history. The Privateers also had three All-Defensive selections: Miguel Useche (Catcher), Dalton Hurst (Second Base) and Mitchell Sanford (Right Field).

Starting shortstop, Kasten Furr went 58 consecutive games without making an error. Starting second baseman, Tyler Bischke only had three errors in 256 chances. The Privateers were 10th in the country in double plays turned with 53.

DuBose comes to the Privateers from Lee University. While at Lee, he oversaw infield development and assisted with hitters. Last season, the Flames won the Gulf South Conference and earned a spot in the Div. II South Regional. There were also 45 double plays turned last season.

Dylan Standifer was an All-Region selection and Alan Carter signed with the Los Angeles Angels during DuBose's time at Lee.

DuBose finished his playing career in 2021. At Covenant College, where DuBose finished his career, he was the team leader in RBI and a Second Team All-Conference selection. He was also an All-Academic selection as a senior.

In 2020, DuBose coached Knights Baseball, a travel organization based in Nashville, to a top-40 ranking nationally by Perfect Game. During DuBose's time with the Knights, 25 players went on to receive scholarships at different levels.

DuBose's first stint in coaching was with the Spearfish Sasquatch, a summer league team in South Dakota. In 2019, DuBose was the third base coach. That summer, Spearfish set a team record for stolen bases.
