Biography

Kearney Gay was announced as the Business Development and Promotions Manager at UNO in July 2008. In this role, he oversees the Blue Krewe and in-game promotions while being the department's liaison to spirit groups and assisting in the marketing and public relations of the athletic department. While not initially hired to handle the task, his responsibilities grew to include the developing and managing of sponsors and contracts during the 2008-09 athletic calendar year.

Before coming to UNO, Gay served as a project manager for the New Orleans Convention Company, assisting in the marketing and programming of several events including a City Park Youth Tennis Fundraiser with Martina Navaratilova and the Louisiana Seafood Festival.

Prior to his most recent stint in New Orleans, Gay served as a community relations intern with the Tennessee Titans during the 2007 football season. In this role, he assisted in the planning, development and operations of numerous special events for the NFL franchise while taking part in the communication efforts of the department.

The native of New Orleans, Gay spent the summer of 2007 as an intern in the Tulane athletic department, organizing the sports marketing calendar, implementing ticket sales promotions and aiding in billboard advertising.

An active tennis player, Gay served as the varsity tennis coach for Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tenn. from 2005-07, leading the girls tennis team to two straight first place divisional titles. For his team's accolades on the court, Gay was named the 2007 Tennessee HS Girls Tennis Coach of the Year.

The 2003 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science, Gay added a Masters of Sports Administration degree to his resume in 2007 from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.

Gay resides in New Orleans with his wife Natalie and their son, Tate, who was born in January 2009.
