Amber Garza joined the Privateers tennis program as an assistant coach in January 2018. Coach Garza has completed four seasons with the squad.

Garza has familiarity with the Lakefront as a collegiate student-athlete. She played for the Privateers from 2008-11 and graduated as the winningest women's tennis player since 2000. She posted a record of 39-20 and her win total currently ranks sixth all-time.

In her senior year, Garza finished with a 12-4 record in singles. As a junior, she paired with Kozue Matsumoto for a 12-4 mark in doubles, which is the sixth best record in a single season in program history. She was also a 2009 member of the Sun Belt Honor Roll.
