Tutson joins the Privateers after time with the Alabama State Hornets Track and Field program. She got her start in coaching as a graduate assistant there in 2014 before joining the program as a full-time assistant in 2016. 

During her tenure at Alabama State Tutson helped the Hornets to 11 Indoor SWAC Championships, seven Outdoor SWAC Championships, 12 Individual Conference champions, 49 Individual All-SWAC selections, and a pair of SWAC championships MVPs.

A decorated track and field student-athlete in her time at Iowa (2009-2013), Tutson was an All-American discus thrower in 2013, and qualified for NCAA Regionals in all four of her years in Iowa City. She was a two-time B1G Runner-up in discus and named Iowa’s female Track and Field MVP her senior season.

At one point in her collegiate career she held the Hawkeye records for the longest weight throw (17.77 meters), and discus throw (55.19 meters).

Tutson earned her undergraduate degree from Iowa in 2013, and a pair of master’s degrees from Alabama State in 2016 and 2019.
