Gabbi Cartagena has joined the Privateers women's basketball program as a graduate assistant for the 2025-26 season. She will also work in facilities for the athletic department.

Cartagena came to the Privateers as a graduate student and played her final collegiate season on the Lakefront. She played in 28 games with 13 starts and scored a season-best 14 points twice against Nicholls and McNeese.

Prior to her stint in New Orleans, Cartagena played at Troy where she was a three-time Sun Belt Commissioner's List member, played 82 games and was part of a Sun Belt championship team in 2021-22.

Cartagena played at Jackson High School in Georgia where she was Region Player of the Year twice and averaged 28.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game as a senior.
