Jennifer Hawk

Jennifer Hawk (formerly Gandolph) is in her second season of her second stint with the New Orleans Privateers and first season under Head Coach Millicent Van Norden. Hawk previously worked with the Privateers in 2005 and 2006 before returning in 2014 in her assistant role.

Hawk comes to New Orleans after spending five years as a teacher and head volleyball coach at Archbishop Chapelle HS in Metairie. As a head coach, Hawk accumulated a record of 124-76 and qualified for the Louisiana State Volleyball tournament every year, reaching the semi-finals and a 40-6 record in 2013. She was also named Metro Area Large Schools Coach of the Year following the 2013 campaign.

Prior to Chapelle, Hawk served as recruiting coordinator and top assistant coach at Samford University in Birmingham, AL for the 2008 season. During that season, Samford won the North Division in the Southern Conference. Hawk helped train student-athletes that earned SoCon Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team honors, along with a couple SoCon All-Freshmam selections.

Before coaching at Samford, Hawk coached in the SEC in 2007 at the University of Georgia where she served as an assistant coach.  While with the Bulldogs, she was responsible for training outside hitters and passers, along with organizing team travel, and video exchange.

Hawk’s coaching career began at the University of New Orleans where she coached for two seasons after the culmination of her stellar career at University of Michigan. After having to cancel UNO's 2005 campaign because of Hurricane Katrina, the Privateers bounced back to have one of the best seasons in school history, and came within one win of capturing the division title - a feat that had never been done before. The Privateers finished with a 23-10 record in 2006, including an 11-3 mark against non-conference opponents.

During her career as a Wolverine, Hawk led the squad to three NCAA tournaments while breaking the school record with 1,562 kills. The outside hitter also became the school’s all-time leader with 4,084 total attempts with 123 career matches played. She also graduated with a school record of 1,381 career digs.

Hawk is the only player in Michigan history to record both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs, and the first Wolverine tabbed as a Big Ten All-Freshman team selection. She left the Wolverines with: 230 total blocks, 158 assists, 60 service aces and a 3.46 kills per game average. She graduated in April 2005 with a degree in Sports Management and Communications.

A native of Greenwood, Ind., Hawk prepped at Center Grove High School where she led the team to the 2000 IHSAA AAAA state championship.

Hawk resides in Metairie with her husbannd, Garrett and the couple has one daughter, Skylar (4 months).
