Jan Sander joins the Privateers as a graduate assistant coach prior to the 2015 season, going for his Masters of Business Administration at the University of New Orleans.
Working under head coach Millicent Van Norden, Sander helped the Privateers to their best season since 2009 with a 19-16 overall record, the third-biggest turnaround in the nation in wins and losses. The volleyball team qualified for the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 academic year.
Sander is a spring 2015 graduate from Elon University in North Carolina. Sander obtained his bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in marketing. Sander obtained a 3.89 GPA at Elon and found his name on the Elon University President’s List three times. Sander also obtained a bachelor of science in international management from Reutlingen University in Germany.
While pursuing his Bachelors, Sander served as the president of the men’s volleyball club at Elon and the University volleyball trainer at the ESB Business School. In his playing career, Sanders participated in the German Beach Volleyball Under-19 Nationals.
Sander has worked for different companies across Europe and most recently worked for DHL Global Mail in Florida in sales operations.
