NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans volleyball team upped their
winning streak to four with a 3-1 (30-26, 24-30, 30-23, 30-24) victory
over North Texas on Friday night.
UNO (11-10, 5-3 SBC) was led by Lindsey Boler and Lindsey Loyd , who had 20 and 15 kills, respectively.
Jaci Bayley continued her streak of matches with over 50 assists to pace the offense with 50 assists while Nicky Valenti had a match-high 21 digs to lead the Privateer defensive efforts.
UNT (7-14, 3-4 SBC) was led by Brooke Engel who had 14 kills while Katy Prokof added 12 kills.
The Mean Green received a team-high 44 assists from Heather Maddox and 21 digs from Jessica Hulsebosch.
The fourth game saw the Privateers hold off a strong Mean Green charge at the end, but the Privateers closed the door with Loyd having six kills and Boler putting down five.
UNO came out strong after the break in the third game with the Privateer attackers hitting at a .333 clip with Boler leading the charge with seven kills and Loyd adding six.
In the second game, the Privateers fell behind 16-6 before rallying within one to make the score 18-17. The Privateers got within one again at 25-24, but could not overcome the Mean Green.
UNO got four kills apiece from Emily Kelly and Dobrilla Kovacevic while narrowly outhitting UNT .095 to .093 to win the first game.
The Privateers continue Sun Belt play on Sunday at 12 p.m against Denver.
