NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans made a triumphant return to the Human Performance Center defeating Sun Belt rival Louisiana-Lafayette 3-1 (30-27,30-21,28-30,30-26) on Tuesday night.
Lindsey Boler's 18 kills led four players in double digit kills for UNO (8-10, 2-3 Sun Belt). Dobrilla Kovacevic had 14 kills for the Privateer offensive attack while Lindsey Loyd and Kaley Hubbard added 12 and 10, respectively.
Jaci Bayley had 38 assists while Cassidy Asebroek tacked on 16 to drive the offense for the Privateers. Defensively, Nicky Valenti had 23 digs while the Privateer blockers stopped 11 Ragin' Cajun attacks led by Loyd's six.
ULL (2-18, 1-4 Sun Belt) received 13 kills from Elizabeth Inman and 12 from Amie Goodwin. Kendra Hall had 36 assists to go along with 11 digs while Erika Castro added 11 digs of her own.
In the fourth game, the Privateers used momentum from two blocks midway through the game which they carried til the end when Loyd teamed with Hubbard for a block to close out the match.
The third frame had ULL break a close game open as two Privateer errors gave ULL a lead they would not relinquish.
The Privateers stormed out of the gate opening the second game with an 11-2 lead, cruising to a 30-21 game win.
Loyd and Kovacevic each had six kills in the first game as the Privateers got off to a strong start.
UNO heads back on the road in Sun Belt play this weekend with a match on Saturday against Troy at 1 p.m and on Sunday against South Alabama at 1 p.m.
