Privateer Volleyball Gets Road Win at ULL

LAFAYETTE, La. - The University of New Orleans won their third straight road match in Sun Belt play taking a 3-1 (30-25, 27-30, 31-29, 30-25) victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night.

UNO (13-12, 7-5 SBC) was led offensively by Dobrilal Kovacevic and Lindsey Boler who had 22 and 15 kills, respectively. Lindsey Loyd added 10.

Jaci Bayley directed the Privateer offense with 50 assists while defensively, Bethany Kern matched a career-high with 18 digs as Nicky Valenti had 17 and Loyd 15 to add to the team dig count.

ULL (3-25, 2-11 SBC) received 18 kills from Caroline Dufrene. Kendra Hall had 36 assists while four Ragin' Cajuns had double-digit digs led by Erika Castro who totaled 17.

Down 16-14 in the fourth game, UNO came out of a timeout on a 13-3 run to take a 27-19 lead. ULL would close the gap to three before the Privateers closed out the match with back to back Boler kills.

The Privateers found themselves in a 12-5 hole in the third game before climbing back behind Boler, who sat out a majority of the previous two games. Boler had nine kills in the game as UNO hit .226 to take the third frame.

Finding his team down 10-5 in the second game, Privateers head coach Jozsef Forman called a timeout. UNO responded.with an 11-3 run to take their first lead of the game before the Ragin' Cajuns rallied back to take the second game, scoring four of the final five points to knot the match at 1-1 heading into the break.

In the opening frame, the Privateers closed with a flourish scoring six of the final seven points to win the game. Loyd led UNO with a team-high five kills on seven attacks.

The Privateers return home to face Louisiana-Monroe at 5 p.m on Saturday. The match will be broadcast exclusively on UNOPrivateers.com.
