MOBILE, Ala - The University of New Orleans volleyball team won their
third straight Sun Belt match with a 3-1 (30-26,21-30,30-26,30-16) win
over South Alabama on Sunday afternoon.
Lindsey Boler had 16 kills to lead the UNO
(10-10, 4-3 SBC) offensive attack while
Lindsey Loyd added 15. Dobrilla
Kovacevic and
Emily Kelly made four Privateers with double-digit kills
adding 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Jaci Bayley had her second
straight match with over 50 assists as she set up 58 Privateer points
while
Nicky Valenti had 20 digs to lead the defensive efforts. Bayley
added 15 digs while
Bethany Kern tacked on 11.
USA (7-11, 2-6
SBC) was led by Juliana Almeida with 15 kills while Maria Kashavelova
had 41 assists. Shannon VanAntwerp had 17 digs for the Jaguars.
UNO
would never look back in the fourth frame jumping out to an early 10-3
lead and hitting a match-high .389 for the game to close out the match.
Following
the break, USA came out strong and lead as much as four late in the
game at 26-22 before the Privateers led by three Loyd kills rallied
back with eight straight points to close out the game.
The
Jaguars bounced back from a loss in the first game with a 14-4 run to
break open a 11-11 tie as UNO hit a match low .027 on the attack.
In
the opening frame, the match went back and forth with the teams tied up
eight times before the Privateers went on a 5-0 run at 17-17 to take
control.
The Privateers kick off a four match homestand starting with a 7 p.m contest on Friday night against North Texas.
