Volleyball Wins Again at Four Points by Sheraton Invitational

NEW ORLEANS ? The University of New Orleans volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win (30-10, 30-18, 30-13) over Alcorn State on Saturday at the Human Performance Center.

The Privateers (3-3) hit .452 in the first game and never looked back as the hosts won for the third time in their last four outings. Lindsey Loyd led UNO with 15 kills and eight digs, while Emily Kelly chipped in 12 kills and three blocks.

ASU (0-2) got six kills from Jarquita Copeland. The Lady Braves struggled to a -.227 hit percentage in the first game and managed just two kills. ASU hit -.102 for the match.

UNO struggled a bit in the second game, hitting .167. The Privateers also lost top hitter Dobrilla Kovacevic, who left the match with an ankle injury.

In the third game, though, UNO never trailed and stretched an 11-7 lead to 21-10 thanks to a 10-3 run.

UNO will wrap up tournament play against Delaware (6-0) in the championship match at 7 p.m. tonight. ASU will meet Nicholls State in the third-place match at approximately 2 p.m. The match was moved ahead due to the teams' respective travel schedules.
