JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ? The University of New Orleans volleyball team made it three straight wins on Friday, as the Privateers swept past North Florida 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-21) to open up the UNF/Jacksonville Classic.
Senior outside hitter Lindsey Boler had 13 kills, while Lindsey Loyd had nine kills and eight digs. Lauren Loeffelholz chipped in eight kills and 10 digs.
The Privateers won the match thanks to a strong defense. UNO held the Lady Ospreys to a .075 hitting percentage, including a .025 mark in the final game. The Privateers had 49 digs compared to 38 for UNF. Loeffelholz and Nicky Valenti each had 10 each to lead the visitors.
UNO (6-5) used a strong finish in each game to complete the sweep. The Privateers tallied 12 of the final 16 points to break open an 18-18 tie in the first game. UNO seized complete momentum in the second set, overcoming a 26-23 deficit by claiming the next seven points.
The Privateers closed the match by winning six of the last eight points.
UNF (1-11) was paced by Kaley Read's 12 kills.
UNO will wrap up the tournament with two matches on Saturday, including a 10 a.m. tilt against No. 8 Washington. The Privateers will wrap up the event against co-host Jacksonville at 4 p.m.
