ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - A slew of season-best performances by the University of New Orleans swimming and diving team was not enough to top Division II Ouachita Baptist on Thursday night.
The UNO men fell 101-55 to OBU with the women dropping their dual by a 116-41 result.
A pair of wins by Jarryd Gregoire in the 50 free (21.59) and 100 fly (51.49) paced the squad while Ryan Moss added a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 free (49.62) and 200 free (1:51.98).
Though the Privateers were topped by the Tigers, UNO continues to improve on their times with most of the team on both the men's and women's sides of the poll posting season-bests.
For the men, season-best efforts came from Blake Edwards (29.13, 50 free), Devin Watson (34.10, 50 free), Stephen Wells (1:00.08, 100 free), Eric Florez (1:01.23, 100 free and 2:16.61, 200 free), Brian Comiskey (1:06.60, 100 back) and Matthew McDonner (1:02.74, 100 fly).
On the women's side, Molly Hutchins and Thea Haemmerle posted team best performances in the 200 free and 100 fly, respectively. Hutchins swam a 2:11.12 in the 200 free with Haemerle touching the wall in 1:06.06 in the 100 fly.
Personal-bests included Hutchins (1:16.80, 100 back), Paige Chauvin (32.19, 50 free), Lisa Loyacono (1:14.51, 100 free), Bethany Salter (2:16.52, 200 free) and Rachel Cogley (2:16.20, 200 free)
"The team did a nice job tonight with several season bests," said head coach James Winchester. "We are really beginning to see the hard work pay off and we will attempt to meet or exceed those marks on Friday."
UNO's three-day stay in Arkansas continues on Friday when both squads contest the 43rd annual Hendrix Classic, before taking part in the 48th annual Hendrix Relays on Saturday. The Hendrix Relays are the longest continuously-run collegiate relay meet in the country.
