Box Score NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans men's basketball team made
the most of their home opener, shooting 50.9 percent from the field on
way to a 80-46 victory over Louisiana College.
Zach Kinsley led UNO (3-1) with 21 points as the Privateers avenged a 81-78 loss at LC (1-3) on Nov. 18.
Bryce Kemp and Jarsolav Tyrna added 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Antonio Wertz was the team's leading rebounder with six.
The Wildcats received 10 points from Romanski Williams - all in the second half. LC shot 28.3 percent from the field for the contest, including a 4 of 22 effort from long-range.
Wertz made his first three field goals of the contest as UNO was 10 of 18 as a team from the field out of the gate to take a 21-9 lead.
The Privateer advantage quickly grew to 32-9 as hosts rounded a 15-0 run against LC. UNO would take a 44-17 lead into the half on the back of Kinsley's 15 first-half points on 6 of 9 shooting.
Eight of LC's first 11 points in the second half came from Williams. The Wildcats could not capitalize on Williams' early second half outburst, struggling to keep UNO within 30 points for the length of the second half.
UNO's largest advantage was 35 points with 5:18 in the contest.
The Privateers will head back out on the road for a Saturday afternoon contest against Birmingham Southern. The team will return home on Dec. 4 to play Pensacola Christian College at the Human Performance Center prior to hosting Tulane on Dec. 14 on the Lakefront.
