Rarlensee Nelson and
Generra Varmall scored seven points apiece to lead the University of New Orleans in a 92-34 loss to Colorado on Wednesday night at the Coors Event Center.
The loss was the second in a row on the road for UNO (9-6) while playing a back-to-back swing that began with a loss at North Texas on Tuesday night.
Lovell Cook added six points while also joining the Privateers' leading scoring duo in a group of six players with two rebounds.
Carlon Brown and Austin Dufault scored 18 and 14 points, respectively for CU (8-4).
Askia Booker added 13 for the Buffaloes with the duo of Spencer Dindwiddle and Andre Roberson scoring 12 apiece. Roberson rounded out a double-double performance with a game-high 12 rebounds.
CU never trailed in the contest, scoring four straight points at the onset of the game before Cook put UNO on the board with a jumper with 18:36 remaining in the opening half. The Privateer deficit grew to 11 points before the first media timeout with the guests eventually trailing 51-20 at the half.
Brown scored 16 points alone in the first 20 minutes for the Buffs, who shot 53.3 percent as a team compared to 24.1 percent for UNO.
The second half was more of the same as the CU lead grew to a high of 58 in the second half just before the buzzer. The Buffs' shooting soared to 57.1 percent in the final half with the Privateers' slipping to 18.5 percent.
Overall, CU shot 55.2 percent on 32 of 58 shooting with UNO connecting on 12 of 56 attempts for a 21.4 percent effort.
Though the road was not friendly these last two games, the Privateers have found comfort in the friendly confines of Lakefront Arena where they will play on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. against Christian Brothers. The game is the first of four in a row at home.
