HOUSTON - The University of New Orleans saw its seven-game winning streak snapped in a 59-55 loss to the University of St. Thomas on Monday night at Jerabeck Gym.
Jeremy Lewis scored 22 points on 6 of 10 shooting from beyond the arc to lead UST (10-10) to win. UNO (12-5) held a 55-53 lead with 1:23 left in the contest before the Celts scored the game's final six points.
Jaroslav Tyrna led the Privateers with 17 points and eight rebounds, shooting 5 of 6 from the field and 6 of 8 from the charity stripe. K.C. Ross Miller scored 10 points with both Ryan and Zack Kinsley adding another eight points.
UNO got in position to win the game after trailing 27-19 at the halftime break and down 11 at 41-30 early in the second half.
Ryan Kinsley and Zach Kinsley, along with Miller hit three-pointers to pull UNO ahead, but the lead did not hold up as the Privateers could not score in the game's final minute.
UNO will have 10 days off before facing Concordia-Selma at Lakefront Arena on Feb. 17.
