NEW ORLEANS –
Nicholls Stated bounced back from a second set defeat to claim a 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20) victory over the University of New Orleans on Tuesday night at the Human Performance Center.

NSU (6-10) completed an in-season sweep of UNO (4-11) behind the 15-kill efforts produced by Sarah Terry and Jennifer Brandt. The Colonels received a match-high 46 assists from Nancy Taylor while Brandt and Jeanne Logarbo totaled 11 digs apiece.

The Privateers were led by Laila Hansen and Elena Villar with 16 and 10 kills, respectively.

Ariane Labrzycki posted 35 assists for UNO with Lauren Levy leading all players with 19 digs. The marks by Labrzycki and Levy ranked as both players' second-best efforts in each category on the season.

NSU won the opening frame before being stunned by a Privateer rally in the second stanza.

UNO came from behind to erase deficits of 12-5 and 23-18 to claim the second set 25-23. Brionne Smith had a pair of service aces during the Privateer rally that initially knotted the scoring at 18-all. The Colonels preceded to score the next five points before a 7-0 run by the Privateers closed the frame.

NSU produced the rally in the third frame, bouncing back from an early 7-3 deficit to take the lead at 9-8. The Colonels would not concede the lead from that point forward to take a 2-1 set advantage into the fourth set.

A Hansen kill opened the scoring in the fourth stanza for UNO, giving the hosts their lone lead of the set. The Colonels quickly scored three straight points and remained in the driver's seat until the end after hitting a match-high .375 for the set to close out the match.

UNO will continue its homestand on Thursday with a 7 p.m. match against Alcorn State before hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
