Privateer Volleyball Drops Match in Three Sets at McNeese

UNO Travels to Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 7 Prior to Home Finale on Nov. 8

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Playing for the first time in nine days, the New Orleans volleyball team was defeated by McNeese State 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-17) on Thursday night.

Taylor Berry led UNO (7-14) with nine kills and a .375 hitting percentage in the match. Laila Hansen and Brionne Smith added seven and five kills, respectively.

Setter Ariane Labrzycki distributed 19 assists for the Privateers with Hansen pacing the way defensively with eight digs. Labrzycki was second to Hansen in the dig department on the UNO roster with seven.

MSU (7-20) was able to complete the sweep of an in-season home-and-home with UNO behind a .393 hitting percentage for the match. The Cowgirls hit .619 in the opening set before hitting at a .500 clip in the second frame. The Privateers held MSU to a .200 attack percentage in the final frame.

For the second time this season, Courtni Bauer led the Cowgirls against UNO. Bauer tallied 14 kills in the first meeting between the squads before adding a match-high 12 on Thursday night.

Bauer contributed defensively as well, getting a hand on five of the 10 MSU blocks in the match. The Cowgirls' Kimberlyn Patterson led all players with 22 digs.

UNO will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 7 with a contest at Louisiana-Lafayette before ending the campaign on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Human Performance against Centenary. The finale at the HPC is slated for a 6 p.m. first serve.
