UNO Volleyball Rolls Past Alcorn for Third Straight Win

Privateers Tally 11 Service Aces to Get Past Braves

LORMAN, Miss. – The University of New Orleans volleyball program rolled to its third straight victory with a 3-0 win over Alcorn State (25-15, 25-18, 25-11) on Wednesday night.

UNO (3-2) served up 11 aces in the match, including eight in the opening frame in order to set the tone offensively against ASU (0-5). Ryan Hamilton totaled four of the team's first set aces and also contributed to the Privateer attack with 29 assists.

Brionne Smith was the top offensive player in the match for UNO with nine kills while the squad received eight kills apiece from Marti Richmiller and Taylor Berry.

On the defensive end, the Privateers' freshman libero Lauren Levy averaged six digs per frame over the course of the match before finishing with 18 for the match.

The statistics made available were tabulated by the UNO bench. Official statistics were not provided by the host institution and a box score featuring both teams will be made available at a later time.

The schedule gets tougher for the Privateers this weekend as the squad competes in the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn/Doubletree Hotel Invitational hosted by Missouri State. UNO will face UConn and Northern Illinois on Friday before taking on the hosts MSU and Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday.
