Privateers Fall to Oral Roberts on Thursday

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team fell to Oral Roberts, 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) on Thursday evening at the HPC.

The Privateers (2-13, 0-3) were playing their first Southland Conference home match of the 2013-14 season, and kept a close, seesaw battle in the first set against the Golden Eagles (11-3, 3-0), but Oral Roberts kept the momentum in their favor and pulled away in the end.  In the first set, New Orleans and Oral Roberts traded eight ties and four lead changes, making it the closest set of the match.

In the loss, the Privateers were led Lauren Levy with 11 digs and Celeste Ramirez with 10 assists.  Marti Richmiller also attributed seven kills.  Leading the charge for the Golden Eagles was Jessica Pancratz with nine kills, while Laura Rosa put forth seven kills and seven digs.

The Privateers return to the HPC on Saturday at 2 p.m. versus Central Arkansas, and admission is free to the public.
