Central Arkansas Defeats Privateers on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team were unable to overcome the surge of Central Aransas on Saturday afternoon in the Human Performance Center, falling 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-11).

The Privateers (2-14, 0-4) kept the first set close, but the Sugar Bears (12-3, 4-0) rallied to close out the set with a 78 percent kill percentage to gain the first set victory.  Central Arkansas sustained the momentum the rest of the match and went on to win the second and third sets.

New Orleans was led by Kelsea Hundtoft and Marti Richmiller each with five kills, while Celeste Ramirez had 13 assists to go along with two kills.  Lauren Levy led the Privateers with 10 digs.

Leading Central Arkansas was Heather Schnars with 11 kills, while Marissa Collins had a game-high 32 assists.

The Privateers will continue Southland action by traveling to Nicholls on Tuesday for a battle in Stopher Gym.  The Colonels and Privateers will have first serve at 6:30 p.m.
