FORT WORTH, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers (0-1) could not get into an early offensive rhythm, shooting 20.4 percent for the game as they fell 85-36 to the TCU Horned Frogs (2-0) on Sunday afternoon at the University Recreation Center.

It was a defensive slugfest to start with just two points combined through the first four minutes of the game. Both teams traded five-point spurts and TCU led 7-5 with 4:49 remaining in the opening stanza. The Horned Frogs ran the floor off of missed shots as part of a 10-0 run. The Privateers shot just 2-of-16 from the field as they trailed by 11 after the first.

The second quarter started in the same light as both teams struggled to score in the first few minutes. However, TCU was able to gain more separation by getting transition baskets and points off turnovers while the Privateers committed 17 turnovers in the first half and shot just 18.5 percent from the field. At the half, TCU led by 23 points.

Danielle Wright started the third quarter by draining a triple for her first collegiate bucket. TCU was able to maintain control though, outscoring the Privateers 30-13 in the third quarter. The Horned Frogs also forced 28 turnovers on the afternoon. New Orleans had the edge on the offensive glass, and had just one fewer rebound than TCU.

Randi Brown led all Privateers scorers with eight points.
Kayla Mundy added seven points while
Yasmin Taylor had four points and a team-best seven boards.
Bria Platenburg added five points and three rebounds.

TCU was led by Zahna Medley who poured in 21 points including eight in the first quarter. Medley shot 7-for-11 from the field. Four Horned Frogs went for double figures including Toree Thompson who had 13 points off the bench along with three rebounds and three assists.

The Privateers will next face LSU-Alexandria in their home opener on Nov. 19. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
