Volleyball Ends Home Slate with Four-Set Victory

Blessing Dunn tallied a double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs

NEW ORLEANS – Blessing Dunn tallied another double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs, Kaitlyn Grice finished with six blocks and two players reached double figures in the University of New Orleans' (12-15, 6-9 Southland) 3-1 victory over Southeastern Louisiana University (3-26, 1-14 Southland) Thursday in the Human Performance Center.
 
The team continued its hot hitting with a percentage of 32.1. Lane Hindenburg's 11 kills and Kyra Hunter's 10 kills (and four blocks) rounded out those in double figures. Grice (.478; seven kills) and Brianna Vega tallied even and senior Rondolyn Bryant – the star of the evening – finished with eight and two blocks.
 
SET ONE
Dunn shined with six kills, five digs and an ace as New Orleans took a 1-0 lead with the 25-23 victory. In the stanza, Rhyan Rand added an ace and a block and Grice assisted Rand on the stop.
 
SET TWO
The Lady Lions led 19-11 but the Privateers stormed back to make 23-18 in favor of Southeastern. The match was knotted at 1 apiece with the 25-22 loss. Heading into the third, Hindenburg led all with nine kills on .571 hitting and added two blocks, Manela Grau and Sarah Thomas each tallied 14 assists and Andrea Nava picked up nine digs.
 
SET THREE
UNO dominated the final two sets, taking No. 3 25-15 on 48.6 percent hitting and defensively, held Southeastern Louisiana to just .077 hitting.
 
SET FOUR
The Privateers shut the door on the home schedule with a 25-16 win in No. 4 behind .400 hitting and again, the defense was outstanding, limiting SLU to .083 hitting.
 
All in all, the Privateers collected nine blocks in the win. Thomas led all players with 28 assists and Grau followed with 26. Nava was the match's leader with 15 digs.
