NEW ORLEANS – Shania Woods picked up her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds to go with two blocks and two steals and
Randi Brown scored 20 points in the University of New Orleans' (1-7) 79-56 setback to Tulane University (5-4) Tuesday evening at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
Eight of
Shania Woods' 11 boards came off the offensive glass. As a unit, the Privateers shot 91.3 percent from the charity stripe.
FIRST QUARTER
Brown scored 11 of UNO's 15 points in the opening period and added one of three Privateer blocks but Tulane led 18-15. Woods and
Whitley Larry added a swat and
Kayla Mundy recorded two thefts.
SECOND QUARTER
The Green Wave led by as much as 13 but the Privateers cut the deficit to single digits, heading into the half trailing 42-33. Brown and
Shania Woods scored 11 points apiece and Shania added six rebounds – five offensive – and two blocks.
Jada Swafford was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
THIRD QUARTER
The Wave outscored UNO 18-to-9 to open the second stanza and take a 60-42 lead into the final period.
FOURTH QUARTER
Both clubs emptied the bench in the closing seconds of the ballgame as the Green Wave took the midweek contest 79-56.
TULANE
Kolby Morgan scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Green Wave's four double digit scorers. Harlyn Wyatt posted a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds and Kayla Manuirirangi dished out five assists. Tulane registered 10 blocks, led by Ksenija Madzarevic's four swats.
