NEW ORLEANS – Kaitlyn Grice tallied a season-high four solo blocks, but it was not enough as the University of New Orleans (12-18, 6-9 Southland) fell in straight sets to Central Arkansas (23-5, 13-2 Southland) Thursday evening in the Human Performance Center.
Grice added six kills and two service aces to go along with her blocks.
Ehize Omoghibo led the offense with eight kills.
Kyra Hunter and
Blessing Dunn both added five kills apiece in the loss.
SET ONE
The first set was evenly matched as the teams traded points early. The Sugar Bears did, however, open up a 16-12 lead halfway through the set. But the Privateers would battle back to tie things up at 18 on a pair of kills from Hunter and Grice. Unfortunately, UCA would go on and score the final four points of the set and take a 1-0 lead with a 25-22 set one win.
SET TWO
The Privateers came out swinging in the second set opening up a 6-2 lead early, highlighted by a pair of kills from Grice and ace from Dunn. But Central Arkansas regained the lead at 9-8 off a 7-0 run. And from there UCA went up by as much as three at times and took set two 25-19.
SET THREE
Central Arkansas trailed only once in the final set as they took the match with a 25-22 set three win.

The Privateers will play their final game of the season when they face Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Human Performance Center. Before the match,
