THIBODAUX, La. – Halie Matthews finished with three blocks off the bench in the University of New Orleans' (14-14, 10-7 Southland) 72-48 loss to Nicholls State University (14-13, 9-7 Southland) Saturday afternoon at Broussard Court at Christopher Stopher Gymnasium.
FIRST QUARTER
Nicholls took a commanding 16-0 lead before
Randi Brown's free throws put New Orleans on the board. The first Privateer field goal came at the 1:42 mark on
Shania Woods' second chance layup.
UNO's defense forced seven turnovers and ended the period with five unanswered but the Colonels led 20-9.
SECOND QUARTER
The run continued in the second with five more for a 10-0 run as the Privateers cut the deficit to six on
Kayla Mundy's corner triple with 9:06 to go.
Nicholls dominated the second chance opportunities (13-2) to take a 34-23 lead into the break. Brown scored 12 points and added six rebounds,
Shania Woods pulled down five boards and
Mariah Wright swatted away a shot.
THIRD QUARTER
The Colonels remained ahead by double figures through three 51-37 despite trading points early in the frame.
FOURTH QUARTER
A 15-0 Nicholls runs propelled the Colonels to a regular season sweep 72-48.
INSIDE THE BOX
Brown finished with 18 points and eight rebounds and Matthews ended with three blocks.

The Privateers close the regular season at Southeastern Louisiana University Wednesday at 7 p.m.
