NEW ORLEANS – Owen Magee capped off a 4-for-4 performance with his team-leading seventh home run of the season in a four-run eighth for the seventh cycle in program history and first since March 23, 2010 (
Nolan Church) as the University of New Orleans (22-28, 11-14 Southland) picked up an 8-3 win over Nicholls State University (23-28, 11-14 Southland) Friday evening at Maestri Field.

New Orleans' bats were silent early in the game, but the Privateers exploded for six runs in the seventh and eighth to rally from a 3-0 deficit. Magee's 4-for-4 night with four RBI stole the show but
Collin Morrill continues to rake despite his injury, collecting three hits, two RBI and two runs from the leadoff spot.
Pearce Howard drove in two,
Darren Willis was 2-for-4 and
Beau Bratton extended his reach base safely streak to 21 games.
Brayson Smith struck out four and allowed three runs – two earned – in 6.0 innings.
John Barr (5-3) was lights out in three innings out of the pen, punching out four while giving up just two hits.
Cayden Hatcher (3-7) was tagged with the loss with four earned runs in 7.0-plus innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nicholls took a 1-0 lead on three hits in the top of the first, but Smith settled down and held the Colonels to the one run until the fifth inning.
Nicholls added two runs in the fifth, but the Privateers stormed back with two on Magee's RBI double and Howard's sacrifice fly.
In the seventh, Magee followed his single, walk and double with a triple, bringing home Morrill to tie the game at 3-3. Howard followed with an extra-base hit – a double to right-center field – to give UNO its first lead of the game, 4-3.
Jay Robinson led off with a single and
Scott Crabtree was hit by a pitch to begin the eighth. After a
Devin Morrill sacrifice bunt,
Collin Morrill plated two on a single and Magee completed the cycle clearing the left field fence with a two-run shot to extend the New Orleans lead to 8-3.
That would be our final as Barr shut the door in the ninth for a three-inning win.
