Shelby Pullins Tallies 11 Total Blocks, Privateers Sweep McNeese

NEW ORLEANSShelby Pullins was a big part of an unstoppable block as the New Orleans Privateers (11-10, 4-3) coasted to a 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-22, 25-16) over the McNeese Cowgirls (8-11, 1-6) on Tuesday at the Human Performance Center.

The Privateers recorded 14 blocks as a team on the night. Pullins was in on 11 of them (three solo, eight assist). The total was tied for the fourth most blocks by a Privateer in a match in program history.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Ehize Omoghibo led the way in kills with nine and contributed eight total blocks. Brianna Vega and Sh'Diamond Holly each added six kills while Lucie Pokorna posted five kills along with 25 assists, 11 digs, and two aces. Andrea Nava led the team in digs with 13.

FIRST SET
New Orleans wasted no time establishing the momentum in their favor with a 10-2 run to start the night. McNeese never got closer than within four points of the lead after that moment. The Privateers limited McNeese to seven kills (10 errors) in 33 attempts.

SECOND SET
The Privateers again got off to a fast start with five straight points, a stretch that included two blocks and a kill. McNeese was outpaced 13-7 in the kill department, but a late rally pulled the Cowgirls within two points at 19-17. However, three different Privateers recorded kills in the remainder of the set to help New Orleans push to a 2-0 lead.

THIRD SET
New Orleans never trailed throughout the night after the opening three rallies and that was again the case in the final set. However, McNeese was in contention early on. Leading 12-11, Pokorna's serve helped the Privateers build their lead to 17-11. They never looked back from there, clinching their first sweep in conference this season.

NEXT UP
New Orleans will start a week-long trip in Texas on Tuesday, Oct. 22 against Abilene Christian. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
