NEW ORLEANS
– The Privateers (1-1) went through a match that saw 33 total ties and 12 lead changes within sets, but fell on the short side of a 3-1 decision to the ULM Warhawks (2-0) on Friday evening at the Human Performance Center.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
New Orleans was led by a trio that eclipsed double digits in kills. Ehize Omoghibo had 13 kills while Rhyan Rand and Brianna Vega each had 11. Vega had 33 kills between both matches on the day. Andrea Nava had 16 digs and Trinity Jackson added 10. Rand and Jackson also had nine total blocks between them.

FIRST SET
In a back-and-forth affair, the score was tied 12 times and the lead changed hands thrice. ULM executed a late run to break an 18-18 tie by scoring seven of the last eight points. The Warhawks had three kills from three different players in that stretch.

SECOND SET
New Orleans came roaring back to level the match at 1-1. The set started with a 9-4 spurt. ULM rallied to square the score at 13-13, but the Privateers overwhelmed ULM for the remainder of the set. Rand had two blocks and two kills in a 12-2 stretch.

THIRD SET
The Privateers had 15 kills but were held to a .109 attack percentage in the set. The score was tight down the stretch with ULM leading 20-19 after a Warhawks service error. However, the road side responded with a 5-1 run to end the set.

FOURTH SET
As was the case in the first three sets, there were a multitude of ties (eight total). New Orleans led by three at one point (11-8), but the Warhawks surged in front for good on a kill by Cali Assaley to break a 16-16 tie.
