NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers (5-5) closed the New Orleans Invitational with a flourish after a 3-0 win (25-9, 25-21, 25-20) over the Southern Jaguars (0-9) on Saturday at the Human Performance Center.

FIRST SET
The Privateers wasted no time establishing the momentum in their favor. After the first eight rallies were split evenly, New Orleans went on an 8-0 run keyed in part by two kills and a block from Ehize Omoghibo. New Orleans kept the pressure on throughout the set as they limited Southern to just four kills.

SECOND SET
Defense was the theme of the day throughout the afternoon. The Privateers held the Jaguars to an .093 attack percentage and they posted 20 kills to the Jaguars' 10. New Orleans got out to an 11-4 lead early, but Southern narrowed the gap down to two at 20-18. Three different Privateers added a kill down the stretch to see out the rest of the set.

THIRD SET
The Jaguars had a set lead at 13-11 and the score was level at 18-18 later. Three consecutive points from Vega, Hampton, and Omoghibo gave the Privateers enough separation to finish off the match in a sweep.
