MOBILE, Ala. – The New Orleans Privateers (4-4) fell into an early deficit and came up on the short end of a 5-0 decision on Tuesday night against the South Alabama Jaguars (5-5) at Stanky Field.
WIN-LOSS
The win went to Matt Boswell (1-1) who went the distance in 102 pitches. It was the first nine-inning complete game shutout by a Jaguar since May 2015.
Christopher DeMayo (1-1) was tagged with the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Jaguars took advantage of two Privateer errors and three walks issued in the first inning. The first run came across on an error. Reid Powers then followed with an RBI single of his own to make it 2-0 after one inning.
Kyle Khachadourian came in and stemmed the tide as he threw 4.2 innings in relief, his longest outing as a Privateer. The Jaguars struck again for two runs in the fourth to further extend the lead. After singles by Alden Davis and Ross Indlecoffer, a two-run base hit by Kaleb DeLaTorre made it 4-0.
The last of the Jaguars' runs came across in the fifth. After a Wilson bloop double, Michael Sandle drove him in with a base hit two batters later. The Privateers did not get a runner to third on the night.
