NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans women's basketball team survived an overtime battle against visiting Houston Baptist University as the Privateers collected a 88-84 victory in the Southland Conference contest at the Lakefront Arena on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rehema Franklin posted her 12th double-digit scoring output of the season as she finished with a game-high 26 points to go with three rebounds, an assist and a steal. The senior guard has now scored 21 or more points in three of her last four contests. Tonight was her seventh game of the year going over 20 points.
- Asia Woods recorded her second straight double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. It is the senior forward's fifth double-double overall this season.
- Whitley Larry was a force in the paint as she chipped in two points to go with 13 rebounds, five assists and a game-high four steals.
- Vaquela Pimpton knocked down 4-of-9 shots, which included two clutch three's, to total 14 points and two assists.
- Freshman guards Mia Deck and Mary Delgado each made their impact felt on the game as the two recorded 10 and nine points in total, respectively. Deck was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc while Delgado added two assists and two steals.
- Four Privateers finished with double-digit scoring.
- It was the most points scored for New Orleans against a NCAA Division I opponent since a 89-51 win against the University of Louisiana Monroe back on Dec. 17, 2017.
- HBU stunned the Privateers in the first quarter as the Huskies jumped out to a 19-12 lead.
- New Orleans answered back with a huge second as the Privateers outscored their counterparts by a 27-10 margin to take a 39-29 lead into the half.
- The Huskies returned the favor in the third as they held a 28-17 advantage to retake a 57-56 lead into the final frame.
- The Privateers trailed by as much as six in the fourth, but battled hard throughout the quarter to keep things within reach. New Orleans was still down by four with just 1:48 left to play before getting two big free throws by both Woods and Delgado in the final 80 seconds to send the game into overtime tied at 72.
- It was all New Orleans in the extra period as the squad lead by as much as seven after they went on a 14-7 run over the first four minutes of overtime. The Privateers would close things out in the final minute to seal the 88-84 victory.
FOR THE FOES
- N'Denasija Collins led the Huskies with a team-high 20 points to go with eight rebounds and two assists.
- Timia Jefferson chipped in 15 points of her own along with seven rebounds and three helpers.
- Megan Valdez-Crader scored 14 points and added five assists and two steals.
- HBU had four athletes score double-digit points in total.
