NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers came out of the weekend with two out of three but fell in the series finale 9-2 to the UConn Huskies on Sunday at Maestri Field to conclude the Allstate Sugar Bowl Baseball Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers and Huskies traded two-run innings in the second. UConn got two singles in the first three batters which set up a Cole Brodnansky sac fly and a Conor Moriarty RBI single to give the Huskies an early lead.
New Orleans responded when
Salo Iza started the inning off with a long single. He got to second on a throwing error and advanced to third on a wild pitch. An RBI groundout scored Iza to get a run back. With two outs and the bases empty,
Jorge Tejeda drew a walk. Two batters later, an RBI single by
Gaige Howard tied the score.
However, UConn surged between the fifth and seventh inning. The Huskies went ahead on one of Kyler Fedko's four singles which scored Erik Stock. UConn racked up eight more hits over the next two innings to create separation on the scoreboard.
