NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans women's basketball program suffered a 67-61 Southland Conference setback against visiting McNeese at the UNO Lakefront Arena on Saturday afternoon. It was the first game in over two weeks for the Privateers as the team was forced to miss the past two scheduled games due as they followed Southland COVID-19 protocols.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- New Orleans and McNeese battled back and forth in a tightly contested opening quarter as the Privateers held a 16-13 lead after one.
- The Cowgirls fought back hard in the second as they recorded a 23-12 advantage in the frame to take a 36-28 edge into the half.
- New Orleans won the third by a slim 17-15 margin to climb back into the game at 51-45 with one quarter to play.
- The two teams traded baskets throughout the fourth, and the Privateers were able to get it as close a 63-61 with 13 seconds left to play but it wasn't enough as McNeese was able to escape the Lakefront with its third conference victory of the season.
GAME NOTES
- New Orleans got a balanced scoring attack as three student-athletes finished in double figures.
Mary Delgado led the way with a team-high 12 points while
Dionjhae Thomas and
Jada Duncantell chipped in 11 points apiece, respectively.

Erin Randle was just a single point off from her second double-double of the season as she recorded nine points to go with 11 rebounds. It was the highest rebound total turned in by a Privateer so far this season.

Zanaa Cordis set a new career-high with three assists and added a career-best seven points and four boards.
- Seven Privateers found the scoring sheet in total.
- New Orleans got 23 points off the bench and 20 points in the paint.
- The game was the first loss for the Privateers in the UNO Lakefront Arena during the 2020-21 season. New Orleans was 3-0 on its home court as they entered today's conference contest.
- The setback snaps an eight-game winning streak New Orleans had over McNeese, dating back to Feb. 2, 2016.
FOR THE FOES
- Le'Shenae Stubblefield led the way for the Cowgirls with a game-high 20 points and six steals. She also posted four rebounds and two assists in the winning effort.
- McNeese had three other student-athletes finish in double-digit scoring as Mychala Linzy (14 points), Kyla Hamilton (14) and Shaela Gardner (13) rounded out the Cowgirls attack.
