NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans women's basketball program won their first Southland Conference game of the season behind a strong performance from senior forward
Dionjhae Thomas as the Privateers knocked off visiting Northwestern State, 65-50, at the UNO Lakefront Arena on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- New Orleans and Northwestern State battled in a low-scoring first quarter as the Privateers were able to take a 16-15 edge after one.
- The second quarter was also a low-scoring affair; however, New Orleans was able to hold Northwestern State to just six points in the frame to take a 27-21 lead at the half.
- The third was the only quarter that the Lady Demons were able to win, as Northwestern State was able to record an 18-17 advantage as the Privateers led by 44-39 after three.
- New Orleans put it all together in the fourth and recorded a 10-point advantage (21-11) to close out the 65-50 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Senior forward
Dionjhae Thomas has now posted back-to-back career games as she followed up her 20-point showing in her hometown against Nicholls on Saturday with a 15 point, nine rebounds, six assist performance in the victory tonight against the Lady Demons. The rebound total set a new career high as Thomas has now posted two consecutive games with at least 15 points, six assists and six boards.
- Freshman guard
Kyla Davis stepped up in a big way as she also recorded a career night on the court. The Fort Worth, Texas native posted new bests of 18 points (old career-high was six) and five rebounds as she connected on 5-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc. The five three-pointers were the most made by a Privateer in a single-game so far this season and highest total since
Mia Deck knocked in seven against UIW back on Jan. 11, 2020.
- Senior point guard
Jada Duncantell was the third Privateer in double-digit scoring as she knocked in 10 points along with a team-high three steals (which also tied a season best). She also pulled in eight boards, a new career-best for the Natchitoches native.

Zanaa Cordis was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field as she posted six points to go with four rebounds, one assists, one block and a steal. The work on the board tied a season and career-high.
- Transfer
Erin Randle has been a force on the boards as she grabbed nine tonight to go with four points and two blocks. She has now averaged almost eight rebounds a game over her last seven contests.

Zoe Cooper set a new career-best with eight rebounds.
- Deck tied a career-high with seven made free throws. The sophomore guard also added nine points.
- Freshman
Jacqueline Dianis scored her first point as a Privateer as she knocked down a free throw in the fourth quarter.
