NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers had two looks at set point in the second set but they were defeated 3-0 by the Southeastern Lady Lions on Saturday afternoon at the Human Performance Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers faced an early 13-6 deficit but they came back to within three at the next 11 points. New Orleans staved off the first two attempts at set point from Southeastern with a kill from
Alexis Parrish and a service ace from
Molly Kehoe. However, a service error capped off the set for the Lady Lions.
Set two saw high drama and six different attempts at set point. New Orleans trailed 19-14 at one point but they stormed back behind
Kai Williams and
Atira Jells who had two kills each as the Privateers tied the score at 23-23.
New Orleans had two different looks at set point, once on a Karlee Wilkerson kill and again on a Crispin Adams kill. Gracie Duplechein's service ace finished off the marathon set in Southeastern's favor.
The Lady Lions hit over .300 for the first two sets and limited the Privateers to a .147 attack percentage for the match.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Sh'Diamond Holly had 10 kills and was in on three blocks at the net (one solo, two assist). Williams finished with 10 kills and three block assists.
Maite Solabarrieta had 38 assists while Kehoe,
Trinity Jackson and
Rita Zecchin co-led the squad with six digs each.
NEXT UP
The Privateers will face Northwestern State on Thursday, Oct. 21. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
