Tic Price Joins ESPN+, NASH Icon Broadcasts as Color Analyst

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Athletics announced the addition of former head men's basketball coach Tic Price to the ESPN+ and NASH Icon 106.1 FM broadcasts for the 2021-22 season. Price joins Jude Young on the men's basketball call serving as color commentator with Young providing play-by-play.

"It gives me great joy and excitement to join the University of New Orleans Athletic Department again," said Price. "Coach Slessinger's team will be exciting to watch, and I look forward to providing analysis on ESPN+ and NASH Icon."

"We are so excited to welcome coach Price back to the Lakefront," said head coach Mark Slessinger, who enters his 11th season at New Orleans. "Over the last 20 years, coach Price and I have competed against each other on opposite sidelines and it's great to now be on the same sideline. He is one of the greats here at UNO and is responsible for some of the best teams in our storied history."

Slessinger added the conversations they had when he was hired in 2011.

"I recall calling him the first week I was on the job here. He was so kind to share his insights with me about how special UNO is and how much he loved it here. Over the past decade, he has been a great resource for me, and I am very grateful and happy that he has returned home to the Lakefront."

As the Privateers begin their first season on ESPN+ with a multi-cam production, Young and Price can be heard on the Worldwide Leader and on 106.1 FM in the Greater New Orleans region.

"Enhancing our overall broadcast and adding a color analyst of the caliber of Tic Price to the call is a unique opportunity," said Kelvin Queliz, Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Communications & Digital. "He is a perfect addition and will provide New Orleans Athletics, Lakefront Arena and Southland Conference knowledge. Jude and Tic can be heard on 106.1 FM and ESPN+ all season long!"

Price went 63-27 in three seasons (1994-97) and ranks second in program history with a 70.0 percent win percentage. Price led the Privateers to back-to-back-to-back 20-win seasons, including a 21-9 mark in 1995-96 en route to claiming the Sun Belt Conference championship and NCAA Tournament bid. The following season, New Orleans went 22-7 and appeared in the NIT.

At the time, Price set a Sun Belt record for winning percentage in league games (.759) and won 22 consecutive conference home wins. He is the only coach to have 20 or more victories in three consecutive seasons.

Slessinger led the Privateers to their first 20-win season since the Price era in 2016-17 when UNO returned to March Madness with a regular season and conference championship.

Price will also call games for the league office on ESPN+.
