Coleton Benson Named First Team All-Louisiana by the LSWA

NEW ORLEANS - University of New Orleans sharpshooter Coleton Benson was honored as one of the best in the Pelican State with the release of the 2025-26 All-Louisiana Men's Basketball Team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Tuesday afternoon.

Benson was named to both the All-Louisiana and All-Southland teams after a tremendous season on the Lakefront. Benson finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the Southland and No. 3 in the NCAA in free-throw percentage after sinking 92.8% of his attempts this season — both UNO and Southland single-season records. He also ranked second in the league in both 3-point percentage (35.9%) and 3-pointers made. His 89 makes from beyond the arc are the second-most in a single season in school history. Benson had 20 games this season with multiple 3-pointers made.

The senior averaged 16.2 points per game this season — the sixth most in the league — with 10 games of 20 or more points and a league-high four games of 30 or more points. Benson was named Southland Player of the Week in November after a 33-point outburst to knock off previously undefeated Tulane.

Benson becomes the eighth UNO men's basketball student-athlete named All-Louisiana since joining the Southland Conference prior to the 2013-14 season, and the first to earn first-team honors since Bryson Robinson following the 2019-20 campaign. He is the 50th All-Louisiana selection in program history, dating back to John Hamilton in 1972, and the 18th first-team selection.
