Khachadourian Starts Hot, Privateers Fall to Tulane

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers were locked in a tight battle early but fell on the short end of a 7-1 decision against the Tulane Green Wave on Tuesday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tulane opened up what was a close game in the seventh inning. The Green Wave plated five runs on three hits to extend their lead to 7-1. The Green Wave got RBI singles from Collin Burns, Simon Baumgardt and Jared Hart.
 
Green Wave pitchers recorded 13 strikeouts on the night led by starter, Tyler Hoffman who had seven in four innings.
 
Tulane got the scoring going with a two-out, two-run triple off the bat of Burns who drove in three runs on the night.
 
KHACHADOURIAN'S HOT START
Kyle Khachadourian got the ball to start and came out firing. He struck out two batters in the first inning and he struck out five over three innings. Khachadourian allowed just one hit and threw 50 pitches on the night (33 strikes).
 
INSIDE THE BOX
The Privateers had five hits and drew six walks. Gaige Howard had two free passes. Pearce Howard doubled and scored the lone run for the Privateers. KC Simonich came off the bench and delivered a pinch hit RBI single in the sixth inning.
 
Keegan Rich and Connor Macip both made their Privateer debuts on the mound. Rich induced a ground ball double play to account for his two outs on the mound.
 
NEXT UP
The Privateers will take on ULM to start a three-game series. First pitch for the series opener is on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
