NACGODOCHES, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers (2-5, 2-3) had two reach double figures in digs but fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-13) to the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks (17-4, 5-0) on Thursday evening at Shelton Gym.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Hannah Volpi (12) and
Sheilah Purcell (11) both tallied double figures in digs for the Privateers on the night.
Samantha Gioiosa added seven digs as New Orleans had 47 total for the match.
Kai Williams led the team in kills with nine.
Sh'Diamond Holly had six kills and
Shelby Pullins had five along with two blocks.
MATCH FLOW
The Privateers fell behind 8-3 early in the opening set but battled back to within two points on a couple of occasions. With the score 21-18 in favor of the home side, Stephen F. Austin scored the last four points of the set which included two Leah Powell kills.
New Orleans kept Stephen F. Austin to a .194 attack percentage in the second set and played the remainder of the set evenly after the Lady Jacks got off to an 11-1 start.
Stephen F. Austin closed the match with a .393 attack percentage in the third set. Powell led the Lady Jacks with 13 kills. Madelynn Miller had 22 digs.
