LAKE CHARLES – The New Orleans Privateers (2-7, 2-5) got a season high 28 digs from
Sheilah Purcell but they could not overcome the McNeese Cowgirls (3-4, 3-4) in a 3-0 loss on Tuesday evening at SP Arnett Middle School.

On top of Purcell's season high,
Trinity Jackson tied a career high for digs with 15. Jackson also accomplished that mark in Oct. 2019 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Hannah Volpi added 27 assists and six digs.
Sh'Diamond Holly racked up six total blocks to lead the Privateers at the net.
Alexis Parrish had a team high seven kills and three total blocks.
Chloe Hampton was also in on three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers scored five straight points after falling behind 4-2 early in the first set. In an opening set that had a couple of substantial momentum swings, the Cowgirls used an 8-1 run of their own to separate to the set victory.
New Orleans was battling from behind in the second set. The set was tied once and McNeese led for the remainder of the set.
In the third, the Privateers threatened to extend the match further. Three straight Privateer points opened the set including two Parrish kills and an ace from Volpi. Neither team led by more than three throughout the set.
The Privateers had three blocks in the set and they took a late lead at 23-22 on a McNeese attack error. However, the Cowgirls prevailed by earning points on a kill, an attack error and a block to close out the match.
