NEW ORLEANS - Privateer Volleyball (2-10, 2-8 SLC) dropped their eighth-straight match falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9-4, 7-3 SLC) in three sets (7-25, 21-25, 12-25) on Saturday afternoon at the Human Performance Center.

The Islanders hit .489 to the Privateers .034 in the match, including a blistering .519 in the first set.Â

Alexis Parrish and
Kai Williams each had six kills to lead the Privateers, with Williams adding an additional team-high nine digs.Â
Hannah Volpi had 20 assists and an ace while
Sheilah Purcell and
Chloe Hampton had the other two UNO aces of the afternoon.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Islanders got off to a hot start leading 6-1 in the first set before Coach Van Norden called a time out. A kill by Parrish finally broke serve for Corpus-Christi at 8-2. The Islanders hit .519 in the first set to the Privateers -.136 on their way to a 25-7 first set win. Parrish had three of New Orleans' four kills in the opening frame.

UNO got off to a much stronger start in the second set as back-to-back aces by Purcell, a pair of kills by Diamond Holly, and an ace by Volpi had the score level at 10 after the first 20 rallies. Â

Corpus-Christi would then go on a 12-6 run taking control of set two with a 22-16 lead. Hampton's ace cut the deficit to three points at 23-20, and a kill by
Shelby Pullins would make it 24-21 before the Islanders took set 25-21 with a kill by Montez Uigaese.

The Islanders got off to another strong start leading set three 12-6 after the first 18 rallies and 18-7 after the first 25 rallies on their way to a 25-12 third set triumph and the sweep.Â

NEXT UP
The Privateers close out the home portion of the schedule on Tuesday night when they host Southeastern at the Human Performance Center. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for senior night festivities honoring Hampton and Pullins prior to first serve which is set for 6:30 p.m.
