RUSTON, La. – The New Orleans Privateers were defeated 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15) in their first match of the Louisiana Tech Invitational against the Little Rock Trojans on Friday afternoon at the Thomas Assembly Center.
STAT LEADERS
Rita Zecchin led the way in kills with six. Of those kills, five came in the third set.
Maite Solabarrieta had a season high 23 assists and
Trinity Jackson led the way in digs with 15.
Tara Goolsby had five kills and two total blocks.
The Privateers also had nine total blocks to just three for the Trojans.
Atira Jells was in on four blocks while
Maxine Walsh and
Kai Williams each had three total blocks.
Three Privateers recorded an ace: Solabarrieta,
Sh'Diamond Holly and
Maya Scott.
MATCH FLOW
The Trojans led throughout the majority of the match and the score was only tied three times. All those occurrences came in the third set. Little Rock hit .302 as a team and had 18 more kills on the day. Nedima Kamberovic and Laura Jansen each had 11 kills to lead the Trojans offense.
Little Rock had nine service aces as a team. Leigh Maher (15) and Laura Jansen (13) led the way for Little Rock defensively.
