Cordis Has Career Day, Three Reach Double Figures at McNeese

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team had three players in double figures but were defeated 72-61 by the McNeese Cowgirls on Saturday afternoon at the Legacy Center.

Zanaa Cordis had a career-high 15 points and nine rebounds on the afternoon as New Orleans spent the afternoon attempting to dig back from an early 11-3 deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers fell victim to an early McNeese run but a resolute squad kept pushing back against the Cowgirls. Eventually, they tied the score at 28-28 on a Majegane Barry bucket in the paint in the final minute of the half.

McNeese nudged back ahead and went to the halftime locker room with a 32-28 advantage. A 7-1 run by the home side put New Orleans into a double-digit deficit with 7:40 remaining in the third quarter.

The Privateers had a final spurt late that cut the McNeese lead to 63-57 with 2:42 remaining in the contest. However, a three-pointer by Kailin Chamberlin on the next Cowgirls possession helped stave off the Privateers' late rally attempt.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Cordis was the leading rebounder for a Privateers squad that pulled down 46 boards, a season-high for New Orleans eclipsing the 45 they had against Grambling.

DeArica Pryor went for double figures in a seventh consecutive game, scoring 16 points. Jomyra Mathis added 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Nahja Scott also hauled in eight boards to go along with six points.
