WICHITA, Kan. – The New Orleans Privateers (1-5) leveled things off after a difficult start and had three in double figures but it wasn't enough as they fell 79-61 to the Wichita State Shockers (7-1) on Saturday at the Charles Koch Arena.
The Shockers jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter. New Orleans was able to use the three-point shot to level things off for the remainder of the half. The Privateers shot 40 percent from distance and New Orleans trimmed that 14-point lead to five early in the second quarter.
However, the Shockers were able to counter as they hit 50 percent of their shots in the second quarter. After a
Nora Francois three got the Privateers back within single digits, the Shockers engineered a 6-0 spurt to end the half. The last was a basket by Trajata Colbert in the waning seconds which sent Wichita State to the locker room up 39-24.
The Privateers outscored Wichita State 20-15 in the third quarter and shot 53.3 percent from the field in the penultimate stanza. However, they could not close the gap further and the Shockers went on a 9-2 run to close out the game for their sixth consecutive win.
INSIDE THE BOX
DeArica Pryor hit three of her first four triples and finished with 20 points along with four rebounds.
Hennessey Luu-Brown added 12 points and Francois finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Tara Green added eight points and eight boards.
The Shockers had three reach double figures led by Trajata Colbert who had 19. DJ McCarty finished with 17 points.

The Privateers will travel to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
