NEW ORLEANS – Four Privateers scored in double-figures as the University of New Orleans (3-16, 2-10 Southland) knocked off the Northwestern State Lady Demons (11-13, 4-9 Southland) 72-64 on Saturday afternoon at Prather Coliseum.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Candice Parramore split a pair of free throws giving Northwestern State a 9-8 lead with 2:48 remaining in the first quarter but the Privateers would never trail again.
Jomyra Mathis and
Kyla Davis both scored in double-figures in the first half on a combined 9-of-15 shooting as UNO raced out to a 35-26 halftime lead.
With the Privateers leading by double-digits for most of the game, Northwestern cut the UNO advantage to six with 4:35 to go. A three-pointer by Davis and a pair of layups by DeArica Pyror restored UNO's double-digit lead, and the Privateers would never look back on their way to victory in Natchitoches.
For the game, the Privateers shot 45.3% (29-of-64), including 32% from beyond the arc (8-of-25) and 66.7% from the free throw line (6-of-9). Mathis, Gipson, Davis, and
Zanaa Cordis all finished in double-figures for the Privateers.

- Mathis finished with 18 points on 8-of-18 shooting, her 8
th double-figure scoring effort in the last nine games She also pulled down seven rebounds and had four assists.
- Davis finished with 15 points and seven rebounds – matching her season-high in boards.
- Gipson finished with 15 points, and Cordis finished with 10 to round out the double-digit scorers for UNO.
- The 45.3% from the floor was the Privateers' second-best of the season.
- The Privateer bench outscored the Northwestern State 25-6.
