Women's Basketball Wraps Up Season at Northwestern State

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team will conclude their 2025-26 season on the road when they head to Prather Coliseum to take on the Northwestern State Lady Demons. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Privateers lost their last outing on Saturday to McNeese which was their home finale. Lauren Banks scored 20 points for the second consecutive game after having her first double-double in a Privateer uniform last Thursday against Southeastern.

Brialle Washington has been the team's leading scorer both on the season and in conference play. Washington is averaging 11.2 points per game and has 12 double-digit scoring efforts against Southland opponents that included a career-high 26 against UTRGV.

Shanihya Brown has been consistently in the top five in the conference in both assists and steals. Coming into the regular season finale, Brown ranks fourth in assists and second in steals. She crested 100 assists on the season making her just the second Privateer since 2007 to eclipse that mark in a season.

Banks is one of 12 players in the Southland to have 100 or more free throw attempts on the season. She also ranks sixth in the conference in free throw percentage, converting on 76.9 percent of her attempts.

New Orleans lost the first meeting against Northwestern State at Lakefront Arena in late January. Brown had 16 points that day and Mariah Hart added 10 points for New Orleans.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Northwestern State is 13-8 in league play, which places them as the 5-seed in the upcoming Southland Tournament. They held Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to just 35 points in a 63-35 win on Saturday.

Vernell Atamah continues to lead the league in scoring by a healthy margin. She is averaging 18.9 points per game. Second on the list is Jalayah Ingram who is averaging 16.5 points per game.
